Network Speed Testing with iPerf

Network speed tests using browser-based services like Google Speed Test or Speedtest.net provide limited results due to their built-in speed restrictions. iPerf offers accurate network performance measurements for server connections.

Installation

Download and Setup

Download iPerf for Windows
Extract the zip file to your desktop
Navigate to the extracted iperf-3.1.3-win64 folder

Command Prompt Configuration

Open the iPerf folder containing the iperf3 executable
Right-click the address bar at the top of the folder window
Select "Copy address as text"
Open Command Prompt
Type cd followed by a space
Right-click to paste the copied directory path
Press Enter to navigate to the iPerf directory

Speed Test Commands

Command	Function
`iperf3 -c YourServerIP`	Tests download speed from server
`iperf3 -c YourServerIP -R`	Tests upload speed to server

Usage

Replace YourServerIP with your actual server IP address:

iperf3 -c 192.168.1.100
iperf3 -c 192.168.1.100 -R

The first command measures download performance while the second command (-R flag) reverses the test direction to measure upload performance.
